Well we left England 48 weeks ago today, some might say that we only have four weeks left, but I reckon most them would also love a four week holiday right now!

We are really looking forward to going home and seeing our family and friends, although we are not wishing our time away here at all.  We deliberately chose to end our year in South Africa as we knew it would leave us on a high!  On reflection though, if we had chosen to fly east to west rather than this way round, we would probably have finished our year in Argentina and that would also have been an awesome way to top the year off!  We are already planning to spend another month in Argentina when we can.

We have so many questions in our heads that we think we might get asked when we get home, about our year, but we are struggling to find answers to them.  Which continent, which country, what activity, which night out, where wouldn't you, what is your top five this and that?  We have no idea!  Currently we have had a 336 day holiday of a lifetime and quite honestly there has not been one day where we have not done something that we, at the very least, really enjoyed doing.  Even if it was sitting on a beach for a few days reading a book, which is not something we thought we would either do, or enjoy, but we did!

We have no idea how many people have looked at our website, how many people have read the diary updates, or looked at the photos regularly throughout the year.  We have been surprised by who we have heard from and who we have not heard from and wondered about the reasons why we haven't.  Obviously we have no idea who checks out what we are up to, but chooses not to leave a message on the Message Board.  Either way, those of you who have, we hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as we have done writing it.  We have had a couple of emails from people saying they have read our website and it has inspired them to go and do the same.  Fantastic!  Good on 'em!  We hope that through what we have done we can inspire our nephew and nieces to consider doing the same when they get the chance!  We cannot wait to see all the postcards and little presents we have sent them through the year!

Before we set off we did think about this stage of the year and how we might be feeling.  We can honestly say that we do not have any of the concerns that we thought we might.  We have a feeling that other people recently thought we might be a bit nervous about coming home and having to find an income, but we have a plan and we are going to see how we go with it.  We only have ourselves to worry about financially and so given we have come this far we may as well try the next step.  Do you remember the television series, "The Good Life?”  We could end up being the real Tom and Barbara!  Hahaha!  Although our neighbours are nothing like Jerry and Margo!  Well, maybe a little!  I'm joking Margo, I mean Maggie, honestly!

The year has certainly made us appreciate a few things and a few people a lot more.  It has changed our opinions on several countries and cultures, some for the better, some definitely not!  It has had an extremely positive effect on both our attitudes and outlooks.  Yet, we still have seen way too much inconsiderate behaviour on an individual and country-wide basis for life, the world we live in and the creatures we share it with!

Four weeks tomorrow we will wake up in a bed in England and then that afternoon have a Sunday roast dinner, both things we will do for the first time in over a year!
