At last! After saying "x" weeks left at work,
for what had started to seem like an eternity, it has now changed to us
being able to say "next Friday" and it cannot come too soon!
Neither of us have lost any of our enthusiasm
for the actual stand-up training part of our job, but as for everything
else that goes with it, well something needs to change quickly, before
there is nobody left! We've made a lot of great friends through work,
some of whom will no doubt be lifelong friends, and although we'll be
having the experience of our lives, no doubt there will be times during
the year when they'll be missed. Probably when we're sitting down in a
curry house somewhere in the world!
It started to feel quite final on Tuesday this
week as we both had our "exit" interviews, where, among various
discussions, we are asked to give frank opinions as to various aspects of
the bank. One of the things that we are trying hard not to think about is
what happens when we come back, but this was something that needed to be
discussed from a "what's the process" perspective in case we do go back to
the bank.
A few people have said to us that we
can't/won't come back to this job, or even this country, but who knows!
Maybe we will? I can't say I hope we don't because after a year off work,
away from friends and family, who knows how our attitudes and outlook on
life will have changed? Our only goal right now is to have a fantastic
year, where we take everyday one day at a time and not think about 2
September 2006 until we land at Heathrow that morning. Our only focus
right now is 1 September 2005 as this is the beginning of a totally new
and exciting chapter in our lives.
Last Friday evening we went to Andy and
Andrea's Wedding Party, who are two of our closest mates, and it was a
fantastic night. They got married abroad a couple of weeks ago and had a
party for everyone when they got home. It got a bit emotional when it was
time to go, well for Angela and Andrea anyway! Goodness knows what they
will be like in a few weeks time when we really say goodbye for a year! |
